Letter: Tax revenue from LNG would disappear

It isn’t so much the LNG (liquefied natural gas) port that is so environmentally bad; it is the process of fracking that seems to cause problems. It has been reported that the groundwater is effected big time – is this true? No one knows.

It isn’t so much the LNG (liquefied natural gas) port that is so environmentally bad; it is the process of fracking that seems to cause problems. It has been reported that the groundwater is effected big time – is this true? No one knows. The oil companies say no, but the reality seems different. There seems to be enough questions that the pause button should be hit.

We aren’t going to benefit a whole lot. The will be more tax revenue generated but that will disappear down a hole. I believe the plant will be built offshore and floated here, a few temp job to connect to the services but our manpower will not build it. There will be a few operation people, but no windfall. The big thing seems to be the tax revenue (municipal, provincial and federal) and company revenue. Do not kid yourself into thinking the extra tax revenue will go to useful things; it will go to more Mike Duffy types.
