LETTER: Trail building in Squamish

I want to tell people about how we maintain trails in Squamish and where the best trails in Squamish are. There are so many places to go ride in Squamish.

I am going to tell you what we use to maintain trails and also how long we work on them.

First of all when we work on trails we have to rake all the loose rubble on the trail and then we go back to where we started and cut down any branches and little trees in the way of the trail, we work on the trails for about eight to nine hours a day. But it is worth it so people have a safe trail to ride.

There are also different levels for different trails. We have to wear jeans, a long sleeve shirt and steel-toed boots, for safety reasons. One of the top 10 trails is probably Meadow of the Grizzly up behind Quest University. I would love to see more trails in Squamish.

There are so many trails in Squamish that they hard hard to maintain, but it’s fun to do. I loved working for SORCA and would like to keep working for them. It is fun to mountain bike. I would like to encourage people to work on trails so they can experience it firsthand. You will be moving from day-to-day from spot-to-spot. My favourite place to work was by Quest University on the Climb Trail.

Just make sure you pack enough food and water. I went one day with barely any water, that was a thirsty day for me.
