Editor’s Note: Residents of Hilltop House recently took a trip up the Sea to Sky Gondola. One resident wrote the following poem and note about his experience.
As we arrive at the gondola you can feel the excitement in the air.
Some of fear, jubilation to add to the exhilaration.
Some reply:
This is scary. What if the chair falls and we land on the trees?
Some reply abruptly:
Then we shall reside with God forever and ever Amen.
And everyone chimes in Amen.
Shortly after one is loaded, we reach the summit.
After unloading, everyone scurries like little chipmunks for the best view of the Chief.
Proof there was an Ice Age and all outcrops of mountain peaks that surround Squamish end on end.
As we are on our way back down, my eyes swell up and the tears flow.
And I thank God for this day.
For God had decided to put His footprint right here in Squamish.
And I was lucky enough to call this home.
I can truly say I have no fear of death, as I already live in heaven.
A very special thank you to Emily at the Sea to Sky Gondola, who helped all of us on and off the cars and also to Tanis of the Hilltop Recreational Team for arranging this wonderful outing.
