Letter: Welcome to the new editor, reflections on election

Welcome to Squamish to the new editor, Christine Endicott. What a time to arrive! Sunny days, snow-capped mountains and a major election.

Welcome to Squamish to the new editor, Christine Endicott. What a time to arrive! Sunny days, snow-capped mountains and a major election.
Your team at The Squamish Chief in action and as always offered candidates extensive coverage from beginning to end of each election, and this time was just as enjoyable for me to see all the election news in the Chief.
In 10 elections, I have never been elected. I have, since the early 1980s, taken many opportunities to inform each council of my differing viewpoint. For me the life-sustaining estuary comes first and is our most valuable asset.
Now I must thank the 567 voters who also want Squamish council to know it is most important to re-consider the Official Community Plan and make protecting our life force, the estuary, our first priority.  This will also be our best plan, a plan to build above the floodplain without killing and filling it. Also, an estuary is not a parking lot for boats.
When I speak to Squamish council I now know 567 voters are with me and so does council.
Thanks to the Squamish Chief staff as I am constantly grateful for your ability to show the news in the best light. The editorial staff has always gone to great lengths to include everyone, whether with differing or united opinions.
Thanks for great election coverage in 2014 and always.
