LNG actions questioned

I attended the recent LNG Boom or Bust presentation at Quest University and was amazed at the turnout of like-minded citizens. The per-capita representation of people in attendance would be like filling up Rogers stadium in Vancouver for the City of Vancouver, and for every person in attendance there must be at least two who couldn’t make it or choose to watch from the sidelines.

This turnout speaks to the growing number of people in Squamish who are really upset about the liquefied natural gas plant proposed for Squamish. I learned on Tuesday that liquefied gas is not so natural and certainly not the clean energy that it’s marketed as.

I also learned that I’m not alone in my anti-LNG sentiment.

I am writing this letter to you regarding your decision to form an LNG committee. It seems that you are mandating a committee to focus on how the plant will take shape and roll out. You are not creating a committee that is mandated to listen to the people and get a real sense of what we actually feel or think.
Why is the district not consulting with the general public and asking the real question? Do we support this? Or are we against the idea of a huge industrial gas manufacturing plant in our backyard?

Do the majority of Squamish residents support your actions?
