Music festival finale set

The Howe Sound Music Festival (HSMF) will conclude with the Highlights Concert on Sunday (April 15) at St. John's Anglican Church. Gold performers in piano and voice, and choral students from Britannia Beach to Pemberton will perform.

A celebratory reception for all performers and community members will be held at 2:30 p.m. followed by the concert at 3 p.m. The festival has been produced by executive director Veronica McPhee. General admission to the concert (available at the door) is $10.

A kids' toy, sports gear and clothing sale will be held at Brennan Park Recreation Centre on Saturday (April 14) from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. This is an opportunity to buy and sell items for children.

The Squamish Environmental Society will meet for the monthly bird count on Sunday (April 15) at the Howe Sound Inn at the new time, 7 a.m. The birders will be looking for migrating species such as mountain bluebirds and swallows. For more information, please call Judith at (604) 892-3340.

Do take in the Trivia Night at Valleycliffe Elementary School on Friday (April 13) with doors open at 6 p.m. and trivia starting at 7 p.m. it's all for a good cause as all proceeds will go to the year-end field trip to the Kettle Valley Railway for students in Grade 6 and 7.

The Squamish Food Bank will distribute grocery hampers on Wednesday (April 18) from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Alano Club on Third Avenue.

The next Lunch and Learn Series at the Shannon Falls Retirement Residence on Third Avenue will be held on Wednesday (April 18) starting with lunch at noon. Guest speaker Colleen Smart from Daybreak Solutions will talk about Rightsizing. Does spring have you in the mood for cleaning? Learn how to clear your clutter and "right size" for you! There is a night of bingo to be enjoyed at the Legion Branch #277 on Monday (April 16) with doors open at 5:30 p.m. Bingo may be discontinued at the end of April unless more people attend each bingo night.

A fundraiser at St. John's Anglican Church on Saturday (April 21) from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. is a Fabric and Fibre Art show. Also featured is a presentation on Saturday at 1:30 p.m. introducing a technique of recycling fabric into baskets. The Squamish Historical Society has its annual general meeting tonight (April 12) at 7 p.m. in the Squamish Art Council building on Cleveland Avenue. New members are always welcome to attend.

WOW (Women on Wheels) is a senior women's cycling group ranging in age from 55 to 75 plus.
