New faces, new places

Wow, I can't believe we are almost at the end of September already! Fall is coming, and with that, time for renovations, home repairs, all that fun stuff we don't like to do when the sun is shining.

Wow, I can't believe we are almost at the end of September already! Fall is coming, and with that, time for renovations, home repairs, all that fun stuff we don't like to do when the sun is shining. Squamish ReBuild can help you with some of that - it's celebrating one year in business! Join them on Saturday (Sept. 22) from noon to 4 p.m. for the celebration. Of course there is cake and a live "upcycling" demonstration you don't want to miss. Everything is half price, too Welcome to another new business in town, Nate Solutions Roof Cleaning and Sealing. Nate's company provides soft-touch roof washing and treatment for all roofs, which stops the growth of moss, algae, lichen and mould for 12 to 18 months, guaranteed (safe for plants, rivers and landscapes). Maybe you don't need a new roof. Maybe it just needs a good cleaning?

Have you noticed a new face at Sears lately? The friendly fellow behind the counter is the new owner, Swapan Kataria. If you haven't been in, go in and welcome him and his family to Squamish Congratulations to Subway, which has opened a second location in Squamish, in the Chieftain Mall, and is offering a 15 per cent discount to students! What a treat for moms who make lunches. That is a great offer, and a nice treat for the student I am hearing great things about the new Thai restaurant, Spice Root, which is now open on Government Road Congratulations to Susan Chapelle on her clinic's move into the brand new Cornerstone Building downtown. Chief Chiropractic has also moved into the same new location

The Royal Canadian Legion Garibaldi Highlands branch donated $500 to support the DARE (Drug Resistance Education Program) which is taught to about 250 local Grade 5 students. This is a worthwhile program, and I understand they are in need of approximately $2,500 to cover the cost of this program this year. If you would like more information, go to www.darebc.com Warren at Mark's is pleased to announce he has changed his hours. He is now open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturdays through Wednesdays, 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Thursdays and Fridays. I believe this is a first for Squamish Welcome to another new business: I am sure you have all seen the Red Apple located on Cleveland, where Fields was previously. Go in and check out the savings and last but not least a huge belated welcome to the new insurance manager at Squamish Insurance Services, a division of VanCity, Bryan Craigen. Bryan works out of both the downtown and the Highlands locations.

Don't forget, email me your business news, big or small. I would love to hear from you!
