I am newly moved to Squamish as of last December. I moved here to enjoy the beautiful country surrounding Squamish and specifically to climb.
I am writing to express my distaste for the idea of having a billboard across from the Chief, and anywhere on the highway for that matter. I feel that one of the appealing aspects of this town is its lack of such garish eyesores, and fear that even though it is pitched as a great way for local businesses to advertise, it will just end up playing Wal Mart or Home Depot commercials, or whichever huge company has the money to throw at it -it is about money after all.
I moved here to get away from that sort of thing and love this town.
