With the 2010 Winter Olympics now behind us, thoughts and plans turn towards the rest of the year. The West Coast Railway Heritage Park has lots of excitement ahead as the months unfold.

March is a great time to visit the Heritage Park, a good time to bring the family and enjoy the park in spring, ride the mini rail and have an enjoyable day.

While you visit, take a look at the exciting new CN Roundhouse and Conference Centre, now looking like a completed building on the exterior. Work continues towards a spring 2010 opening, the next phase of work involves rebuilding and installing the vintage turntable and the track connect ion into the new facility. With this completed, we will then be able to move some of the trains exhibits into the structure.

Royal Hudson #2860 steam engine and train have not yet returned from Vancouver. Having made a great run to White Rock and back in February, we will take advantage of being in Vancouver to have some work done on the locomotive down there at the VIA Rail shop.

This will further upgrade the classic steam engine for future excursions and service.

Day Out With Thomas is returning to Squamish. The dates will be June 5 and 6 and June 12 and 13 for this great event, and tickets will go on sale starting March 11, 2010.

Check out the park's website for all the information at www.wcra.org

There will be much more as our year progresses, Easter events are coming, new exhibits are on the way and the new exhibit hall in the Roundhouse will transform our site.

It's a good time to consider membership, as the 2010 year will be one of constant excitement for everyone.
