Having attended and participated in almost every Oceanfront planning event in the last six years, I'd just like to say thanks to the district and SODC experts for really listening and incorporating ideas from the community into what I think is a great plan.
Perhaps not everyone out there got exactly what they wanted but I could see that all reasonable requests were considered, and by its nature we knew this planning exercise had to be an extreme study in compromise.
I believe what was presented last Thursday is a balanced plan that gives our community the best blend of returns on all important considerations - technical, functional, environmental, cultural, aesthetic and financial add-value.
Now that we've come full circle in the process, I look forward to seeing this plan approved so we can finally move ahead and start tangible work on the site.
Squamish dearly needs a catalyst for new investment, new jobs and new energy that is not focused on the highway.
This is one great step in the right direction and we can take it now with confidence.
