There was a good attendance for the 27th annual B.C. Rail Pioneers picnic held in the CN Roundhouse and Conference Centre at the West Coast Railway Heritage Park (WCRHP) on July 17 and President Marian Payette welcomed everyone.

After the luncheon catered by G Van Caterers, the CEO and president of the WCRHP, Ken Tanner, gave a history of the park from its opening in 1994 to the 20th anniversary being celebrated this year. Historian Eric Andersen had a display of photos depicting the history of Squamish including the railway and logging industry over the past 100 years. The photos were courtesy of the Sea to Sky Forestry Centre Society.

A final note, Payette asked that a special thank you be given to Save-On-Foods bakery staff for the lovely designs on each of the cakes and for delivering them to the park.
