Process 'deeply flawed'

EDITOR,

The federal government is already supporting the Enbridge Northern Gateway pipeline proposal, which would ship tar sands oil to Kitimat and from there to Asia via tanker, a year or more before the review panel will have reviewed the evidence for and against the proposal.

One has to question the legitimacy of a review process which is intended to gather information to inform decision-making when the government has apparently already made up its mind. Any government opinion prior to completion of the review suggests that the process is deeply flawed and that the government has no intention of genuinely weighing the information that will come out of the review process. I would hope that our representative in Parliament, John Weston, will explain how he is going to ensure that the review process is genuine and going to fairly address coastal British Columbians' concerns about oil tanker risks and sustainable jobs in fishing and tourism.
