Ready or not, Chirstmas is coming

With Halloween now behind us, the West Coast Railway Heritage Park shifts immediately into a month of preparations for our Christmas events. The 2009 holiday season will be an awesome one, and we hope everyone will come out and take in our special seasonal events - Polar Express and Christmas Lights in the Park.

First up, on Dec. 5 and 6, is the largest Christmas undertaking we have done to date, The Polar Express. Building on our first effort at this event last year, the 2009 version features many more activities and fun for the whole family.

Operating from the Heritage Park, the event features a one-hour train ride, which will travel out into the Squamish estuary and back. On board, music from the movie will accompany activities acted out on the way to the "North Pole," with Polar Express refreshments served along the way.

Back at the Heritage Park, more activities await in the CarShop building, which is decked out with many Christmas trees, an indoor mini rail ride, Polar Express merchandise, and - of course - Santa Claus.

The Polar Express will draw people from throughout Southwest B.C. to Squamish, so get your tickets ordered now by calling the Heritage Park - both regular class and first class are offered this year (first class adds a souvenir mug for each and a family photo to take home). Make sure you and your family are aboard, call 604-898-9336 for tickets.

Speaking of Christmas, it's not too early to be thinking of gifts for the train buffs in your family. Come out to the Heritage Park and check out our gift shop offerings for 2009, there is bound to be some unique gifts here that you won't find anywhere else in town. Gift shop access is free anytime and we are open every day from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

While you are there, you can check out the progress of construction on the exciting new CN Roundhouse & Conference Centre. Major changes are happening as the glass wall is now in place and the bricks are going on the building exterior. Squamish's new major facility is almost here!
