Editor’s note: This is a copy of a letter to District of Squamish council and staff. It was copied to the Squamish Chief for publication.
I have been a resident and homeowner at 38163 Clarke Dr. on Hospital Hill since May 1997. I have been an employee of Squamish Hospital since 1990 so I have a vested interest in my community.
I urge you to reject the Kingswood development.
I have reviewed the reports and information on the Scott Crescent development on the Squamish.ca website. Despite the developer’s dismissal of residents’ traffic concerns, citing traffic studies that they themselves paid for, I remain unconvinced that the potential traffic created by 700 new people in that development will not be an issue for Hospital Hill residents and our neighbours in Valleycliffe.
I am also concerned that wildlife habitats may be destroyed in this project. It is my understanding that an assessment of impacted species is going to be done at the developer’s discretion once the project has already been approved?! Shame on our municipal staff and council for allowing this to occur.
In summary, Kingswood development will have a negative impact on the Hospital Hill neighbourhood and residents of Valleycliffe and it could destroy wildlife habitats.
I urge you to reject Kingswood.
