Hardworking organizer Francine Erikson said approximately 220 people are expected and are coming from Ontario, Vancouver Island, Sechelt, up north and from the Lower Mainland. Many former Woodfibre residents live in Squamish and will be there as well.***The next Lunch and Learn Series at the Squamish Renaissance Residence (38225 Third Avenue) will be held on Wednesday (July 27) starting with lunch from 12 to 1 p.m. This series is sponsored by London Drugs. The Eight Pillars of Brain Health will have speaker Delores Stewart, a psycho-geriatric mental health nurse, speaking on this subject. For those wishing to attend the lunch (cost is $6) and presentation, please call Tanis at (604) 848-2000, ext. 5002.***A pleasant diversion for you and friends during this dreary summer weather is visiting lovely, old Brightbill House at the West Coast Railway Heritage Park and partake of Afternoon Tea and Scones with homemade preserves. Each Tuesday for the next few weeks from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m., you are invited and the cost is $4 each. If you are going just to the tea, there is no admission charge to the park.***The Caregivers Support Group is offered to people caring for an aging relative or loved one. The group provides a safe and confidential setting, which encourages people to share and provide support for one another during difficult encounters in a care giving role. The group meets in the Seniors Centre on the second and fourth Wednesday from 2 to 3:30 p.m. and the next gathering is on Wednesday (July 27). For more information, please contact Donna or Nadine at (604) 892-6400.***The Squamish Food Bank is sponsoring its annual fundraiser Christmas in July Raffle with many great prizes to be won. Tomorrow and Sunday (July 23 and 24) tickets will be available and a hot dog sale at Save On Foods. Are there any seniors groups that might be interested in selling tickets for the raffle? During the annual Loggers Sports Day parade on Sunday (July 31), volunteers interested in helping to collect donations of non-perishable food or cash donations for the Food Bank are asked to call the above number.***Seniors planning to go on the bus trip to the Boulevard Casino in Coquitlam next week are asked to note the date has been changed to Thursday (July 28) and not Wednesday (July 27). If you wish more information, please call Elaine at (604) 898-5463.***Registrations for Level One, Two and Three exercise classes at the Seniors Centre are now being taken and will run for the months of September and October. If you are new to exercising and want to know what program is best for you, drop by the centre or call (604) 848-6897.***Kids, remember there is Rainy Day Theatre at the Adventure Centre every Monday at 4 p.m. Story Time for babies to ages six is Tuesdays from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. and these programs are free of charge.***The WOW group will meet at Canadian Tire at 9 a.m. on Monday (July 25) for a ride through Brackendale, but they will ride up the golf course trails first.
