Seniors in Safety is the name of the presentation St. John Ambulance will hold on Wednesday, Feb. 13, from 1 to 2 p.m. at the Seniors Centre. Do you know the signs of stroke or heart attack? What would you do if you were on your own and choking and, do you know if you are at risk of a fall? The presentation will include home safety, first aid skills and an introduction to the Medical Alert System with Fall Detector. The Quest University and Squamish Public Library monthly series is always well attended and on Thursday (Feb. 7) at 6:30 p.m., Quest speaker Dr. Bob Perkins will be at the library to discuss "Just how concerned should we be about radio activity?"

The Garibaldi Shrine Club No. 48 in Squamish (part of the Masonic family in British Columbia) recently presented a cheque for $2,000 to the Squamish Hospital Foundation to be used for the orthopaedic program expansion at the Squamish General Hospital. A very successful Robert Burns Night and dinner sponsored by Mount Garibaldi Lodge No. 327 was held at the Squamish Valley Golf and Country Club on Jan. 26.
