EDITOR, Leaving aside for the moment the issue of Paul Lalli using the Council Corner column of the newspaper to pander to Kevin Falcon, I object to the content of his column. ("Falcon delivers for Squamish," The Chief, Jan. 21.) Squamish did not receive any benefit from the Olympics. Every other community in B.C. could apply for grants for local projects under the Olympic Legacy Program. Squamish did not qualify, as we were deemed to be in the area already benefiting. Some benefit. Four years of road construction nightmare through Squamish. And what is he talking about with "east-west connectivity'"? Every intersection on the highway between the new Porteau development and Ansell Place got overpasses and on-ramps/off-ramps. Squamish got one underpass that floods and an extra annoying light at Wal-Mart. The Liberals know where their votes come from in this riding. The only thing that Kevin Falcon has delivered to Squamish is the termination of 250 jobs. He was part of the Liberal government that promised not to sell B.C. Rail during an election and then broke that promise immediately after. For Paul Lalli to use this column as his personal pulpit to shill for Liberal memberships is shameful. I know of 250 families that will remember this abuse in the next municipal election.Paul HarringtonSquamish
