The Squamish Outdoor Recreation Expo takes place at the Squamish Adventure Centre on Saturday (April 30) from 3 to 7 p.m. Want to find out what our community has to offer in outdoor recreation? Then be sure to visit the displays of more than 20 clubs and check out the activities that may be of interest to you, especially if you are new to town. This event is possible thanks to the hard work of Ian and Kim Lowe.

On Sunday (May 1), the annual Hike for Hospice takes place and participants are asked to be at the Adventure Centre parking lot for registration that starts at 9 a.m. The two routes to choose from are walking along the river trails or a more challenging one up the Smoke Bluffs. Your participation or pledges to the walkers is appreciated.

There is much to do this weekend including attending the Open House on Sunday (May 1) from 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the North Vancouver Outdoor School at 2170 Paradise Valley Rd. Never been in a canoe? Then this is your chance along with archery, bannock making and much more. Take a picnic along or partake of the barbecue or from the food concessions. Do remember the Howe Sound Women's Centre is having its fifth annual Mother's Day silent auction/fundraiser at the Cliffside Pub tomorrow (April 30) from 5 to 9 p.m. Burger and beer tickets are $10 each and the night includes silent auction, karaoke, 50/50 draw and music from Jeffrey James and the Bootleggers.

The Friends of the Library book sale is being held at the Squamish Public Library on Saturday (April 30) from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and on Sunday (May 1) from 10 a.m. to noon.

The Brackendale Art Gallery is the location for the monthly Acoustic Jam on Sunday (May 1) from 7:30 to 10 p.m. It's always a fun night for musicians and participants.

You are invited to join Friends Relay For Friends (Relay for Life) and Pearls 2nds at Totem Hall tomorrow evening (April 30) for their New To You Fashion Show. Doors open at 6 p.m. with a number of local vendor tables for you to shop from and at 7:30 p.m. sit back and enjoy the New To You Fashion Show. All proceeds will go to Relay for Life and Pearls 2nds.
