EDITOR,

Re. "HST 'a vote of non-confidence," Letters, Chief, Sept. 9.

Wolfgang, total nonsense! You must stick to reality and facts before shooting from the hip like the NDP and Jim Sinclair. Christy Clark does not have to call a provincial election. What about Ed Stelmach in Alberta, who replaced Ralph Klein midway through a government term. Ed Stelmach became Alberta premier on Dec. 14, 2006, and never called a provincial election until March 3, 2008. What about Greg Selinger in Manitoba, who replaced Gary Doer midway through a government term. Greg Selinger became Manitoba premier on Oct. 19, 2009, and is sticking to the fixed election dates in Manitoba having a provincial election on Oct. 4, 2011. Note that Greg Selinger is also a NDPer. Kathy Dunderdale became premier in Newfoundland on Dec. 3, 2010, midway through a government term, replacing Danny Williams. She is sticking to fixed election dates and the Newfoundland election date is Oct. 11, 2011. Even Ujjal Dosanjh replaced Glen Clark midway through a government term. Ujjal became premier on Feb. 24, 2000, and did not have a provincial election until June 5, 2001. Why? Ujjal waited until the last day available by legislative laws to call the election because he knew it was bye-bye for the NDP. Effective immediately, use facts and reality before shooting from the hip.
