I would like to thank the community of Squamish for their outpour of support for the Squamish Santa Claus Parade. As reported by The Chief newspaper a couple of weeks ago, the Chamber of Commerce handed it over to the Downtown Business Improvement Association (BIA).
It was at this time that I stepped up on the Thursday this was first reported. After a few miscommunications things were finally underway and a committee was formed and working hard.
Thank you to Jasmine Henczel, Rod Pleasance, Patricia Heintzman, and others who stepped up. Your efforts were amazing, and I am sorry things turned out the way they have.
Thank you to Sylvie Paillard and the Squamish Chief Newspaper for running this story so that there could be an outpour of community support. Thank you to the businesses and organizations who stepped up and were willing to be a part of the parade (it is my hope that you still will be with the Chamber of Commerce).
And finally, thanks to Greg Fischer and the BIA for doing what they could to see that the parade would not be cancelled in the Chamber's earlier absence.
