Editor,

In a world filled with so much negative news, here's my take on the place I call home - the place I call 'Squ-awesome,' - inspired by 'The Book of Awesome,' by Neil Pasricha.

Buying fresh local peppers, tomatoes, potatoes and lettuce at the Saturday Farmer's market in downtown Squamish.

The Burrow opening an très cool new restaurant downtown - with a patio out back!

Buying a pair of cool shoes at Fetish downtown and then walking past Gelato Carina to take in some live music on the roof top of Gelato Carina.

Bushwhacking through Salmon Berry bushes and past tiny blue butter flies on route to Brohm Lake.

Chillin' with a pale ale and frosty glass on the patio at Watershed.

Noticing the bumper sticker on a car in the parking lot with "Whistler's That Way" and the car next to it with a bumper sticker that says "Squampton".

Buying amazing olives and food at the Cup for my BBQ dinner.

Watching my neighbours load up the mini van with the kids in their dance costumes dressed as flowers.

Listening to the birds, the crickets and the wind.

Looking up at the Garibaldi Mountains and seeing snow capped mountains against a true majestic blue sky.

Listening to Mountain FM for a clear traffic report on highway 99.

Taking in some live theatre at the Brackendale Art Gallery.

Walking the estuary at sunset.

And checking out the Father's Day look-a-like photos in The Chief.

The list goes on. Summer is here in Squ-awesome.
