The annual Christmas Bazaar and luncheon at St. Joseph's Catholic Church at 2449 The Boulevard is this Saturday (Nov. 23) from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The tables will be laden with delicious home baking, knitting and sewing items, raffles, 50/50 draw and the popular cake walk. New and used items will also be on display.
An event to look forward to each year is the Polar Express train ride at the West Coast Railway Heritage Park and the dates are Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 30 and Dec. 1, and the weekend of Dec. 7 and 8. Biodiversity in the Sea to Sky Corridor will be the theme at the Squamish Environment Society's annual general meeting to be held at the Brackendale Art Gallery on Wednesday (Nov. 27) at 7 p.m. Bob Brett of the Whistler Naturalists, founder of Fungus Among Us and the Whistler BioBlitz, will be the guest speaker. If you are passionate about nature, plan on attending and getting involved.
As of Monday (Nov. 18), there were still a few tickets available for the annual Senior Citizens' Christmas Dinner at the seniors centre on Friday, Dec. 6. It is cash only and the tickets are $17 each. Refunds will be accepted until Dec. 4 at 4:30 p.m.
When the monthly theme luncheon at the seniors centre is held on Thursday (Nov. 28) at noon, the Side by Side Singers will be entertaining, including sing-along selections. Tickets are $9 for seniors, $10 non-members and must be purchased by Wednesday (Nov 27). The menu includes roast beef, mashed potatoes, gravy, green beans and for dessert, sticky toffee pudding and whipped cream. Nancy from the Squamish Library will also have a display of interesting books on hand.

The Squamish Farmers' Winter Market will be open for business on Sunday (Nov. 24) from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the CN Roundhouse and Conference Centre at the West Coast Railway Heritage Park.
After months of rehearsals, the cast, crew and directors of Between Shifts Theatre are ready to hit the stage and perform the well-loved play A Christmas Carol. The Eagle Eye Theatre is the location and dates are Nov. 28 to Nov. 30, and the following week from Dec. 4 to 7. Evening performances begin at 7:30 p.m. with Saturday matinees at 2 p.m. Tickets are available at Billie's Flower House and Republic Bicycles at $20 and $15 for students and seniors.
Squamish Nation National Addictions Awareness Week is celebrated with the ninth annual Pow-Wow at the Totem Hall on Saturday and Sunday (Nov. 23 and 24) from noon to 9 p.m. Admission is by donation and vendor tables are available for $25 each. The community is invited to attend this special weekend.
Carol's Carols is always a popular event to attend each year and will be held in the Squamish United Church on Fourth Avenue on Sunday (Dec. 1) at 6:30 p.m. To date, participants include the Brackendale Elementary School Choir, Melissa Braun and Kayla Matzen, the United Church Choir and Sweet Addled Minds. Admission is by cash donations to Community Christmas Care. The organizer for this 26th annual concert is, of course, the talented Carol Grolman.
