Way to go, students

EDITOR,

My daughter goes to HSS and I'm very ticket off by the way they treat our students. I'm talking about the achievement awards.

A week ago I asked my daughter when achievement night was and she said in a hurtful tone of voice, "They cancelled it this year." She told me it was because of the teachers' dispute.

Well, I was not happy at all about this. This was my daughter. She deserves better than this. Every year she gets awards for her hard work. She never has to be told to do her homework. I'm so, so very proud of her.

She even told me that day that the reason she tries so hard was to get reward plaques. She proudly has them displayed on her bedroom wall. But this year there would not be any.

Well, I told her I would do something about this. She told me not to bother. Today I went to the principal's office and told her how I felt. I told her I'm a taxpayer and the least the teachers could do is acknowledge the kids. She totally agreed with me.

This dispute should never, ever hurt our children. They are the victims. How would those teachers feel if it was their daughter?

Teachers, think about this: If you can sleep at night knowing this is wring, you have to live with it. You still have a chance to make it right.

I would like to thank the principal for doing all that she can for making this right. No matter what those teachers do, way to go, girl.

To all those students that deserve to be treated better, you did a wonderful job this year. We as parents are so very proud of you.
