Mayor and council,

Does the Sea to Sky Highway Project have it in for Squamish? This is the only conclusion I can reach after observing the deficiencies that have typified the highway "improvement" project through our community.

I'm sure the project management people have been able to justify the more than three years the project has dragged on through Squamish.

I gather they can explain why they put in the under-height pedestrian underpass at the Mamquam Blind Channel, or why the Kingswood pedestrian crossing was not included in the project, or why they blocked the new corridor trail just north of the Mamquam River Bridge to list just a few of the more blatant problems, but how can they possibly explain this latest screw-up.

The disappearing sidewalk on the southbound side of the Mamquam Blind Channel Bridge is truly inexplicable. Only someone intent on sticking-it to our community could do anything so obviously wrong.

Is our municipal government unable to influence this project for the benefit of our community? Can our MLA impact project implementation? Who will fix this?

For once, I'm at a loss for words.

Jim Harvey
