Do plan to attend the Belles and Whistles Fashion Show at the West Coast Railway Heritage Park on Saturday (April 20) at 2 p.m. with doors open at 1:30 p.m. If you have never attended a historical fashion show put on by Mr. Ivan Sayers, you will be pleasantly surprised. Mr. Sayers is an expert on historical fashion and he brings his models and his huge assortment of costumes from every era. His show is definitely engaging and he makes it a lot of fun with his great sense of humour. He has said that he no longer wants to travel "out of town" to do these shows, but has graciously agreed to come to Squamish one more time. The event is a fundraiser for the park and St. John's Anglican Church. Tickets at $20 each are available at the Park, St. John's Church, online at www.stjohnsquamish.ca, and On the Farm Country Market.

Hilltop House Support Society (HTHSS) put out a request for old purses that have been well cared for and to be sold at the fashion show as a fundraiser. The members were extremely pleased with the response and it is hoped many purses will find new owners come Saturday (April 20).

Tonight (Thursday, April 18) at 6:30 p.m. at the Squamish Public Library the Quest University lecture series continues with Dr. Ryan Derby-Talbot speaking on "What is the Role of Intuition in Mathematics?"

Squamish's "own" Norman Foote will be in concert at the Brackendale Art Gallery on Saturday (April 20) at 8 p.m. Norm has so much energy and talent it is bound to be a great night of entertainment. Tickets are available at the BAG and at Xocolatl at $20 each.

If you care about trails in our community, plan to attend the annual general meeting of the Squamish trails Society tonight (Thursday, April 18) at 7 p.m. The location is the Squamish Arts Council building on Cleveland Avenue.

More talent will be presented at the Howe Sound Music Festival's Highlight Concert at St. John's Anglican Church on Sunday (April 21) at 3 p.m. The cost is $10.

The St. George's Day theme luncheon at the Seniors Centre on Thursday (April 25) will feature an English lunch of bangers (sausage) and mash, gravy, vegetables and trifle for dessert. Please purchase tickets by Wednesday (April 24) and the cost is $9 for members and $10 for non-members. Nancy from the Squamish Public Library will have an interesting display of books for you to check out.

The Howe Sound Women's Centre (HSWC) is offering the program Still the Mind, Relax the Body through meditation and relaxation. It is offered each Wednesday from 9:15 to 10:15 a.m. by donation and the location is The Yoga Studio at 37776 Second Ave. On Fridays, the Theatre Group for Women is held at the same location from 4:15 to 5:15 p.m. on a drop-in basis and also by donation. For more information, please call the HSWC at (604) 892-5748.

Squamish Elementary Grade 6/7 students are hosting a garage sale to raise funds to help offset the cost of camp and ensure all students are able to participate in the "camp experience." The event happens on Saturday, May 4, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the school. If you have gently used items to donate, drop-offs will be accepted Friday, May 3, from 3:30 to 6 p.m., and the morning of the sale. If you have questions, please call Kathy at (604) 898-3993.

The Gift Shop at the Squamish General Hospital (SGH) has many new items on display including stuffed toys and clothing for babies, bird houses and gift items for birthdays, showers, etc. The Women's Auxiliary to SGH will be at Nesters on Friday and Saturday (April 19 and 20) and at Wal-Mart on April 21 selling tickets for their spring raffle.

Two important fundraisers are coming up in May and your support for both will be much appreciated.
