Editor,
Wow! What an amazing week!
Kim and I were lucky enough to make the trip from Indiana to the [North American Whippet Racing Association and the National Oval Track Racing Association] nationals in Squamish ["All dogs go to Brennan," The Chief, Sept. 3].
Our trip took us to Seattle and then a short drive up to Vancouver. We arrived Wednesday and stayed in downtown Vancouver... easily the most beautiful and friendly city that we have ever stayed in.
Of course there is a wee drive (about 50 minutes) to Squamish, but the Sea to Sky Highway is one of the most scenic drives you could ever imagine!
The track had been described as park-like, but it's actually nicer than that as the running surface more closely resembles a golf course.
The backdrop is 360 degrees of mountains and the weather was ideal running condition for the dogs. We had a wonderful time meeting lots of people that we've only seen on the Internet, and can't say enough for how welcoming and friendly the entire group was.
It was wonderful meeting everyone, and we are already planning our trip back to the most beautiful place in North America to hold a race meet.
