This Thanksgiving weekend, plan to take your family to Harvest Fest 2012 at the West Coast Railway Heritage Park. Each day (Oct. 6, 7 and 8) from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., take in hayrides, mini-rail rides, heritage train rides, explore the trains, face painting, crafts and more. As an added bonus, live musical entertainment will be provided by Carolyn Grass, Jim Piche and friends. There is reduced admission prices for the whole family.

Adults are invited to attend the Rockin' the Roundhouse dinner and dance in the CN Roundhouse at the Heritage Park on Saturday night (Oct. 6) with doors open at 6 p.m. The entertainment includes an Elvis tribute by Steve Elliott, a well-known Elvis impersonator, at 8:15 p.m. The cost for the dinner and dance is $65, and, for the dance only, tickets are $15 each and available at the door.

The third annual homecoming Boot and Bake Sale will be held at St. John's Anglican Church at 1930 Diamond Rd. on Saturday (Oct. 6) from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Pick up some delicious homemade baking for Thanksgiving and also check out the household items including furniture, lamps, toaster oven, books, clothing and hidden treasures.

After the monthly meeting for the Hilltop House Support Society on Thursday (Oct. 11) at 9:30 a.m., the annual general meeting will be held. This dedicated group of volunteers sponsors the annual Harvest Tea, bake sale and raffle and it will be held at Hilltop House on Saturday, Oct. 13, from 1:30 to 3 p.m.

An Elder College intermediate French conversation course is being offered at the Capilano University Squamish campus. The eight-session course will start on Friday (Oct. 5) from 10 a.m. to noon and the cost will be approximately $40. For more information, please call Judith at (604) 892-3340.

The Acoustic Jam happens the first Sunday of each month at the Brackendale Art Gallery and on Sunday (Oct. 7) from 7:30 to 10 p.m., an invitation is extended to everyone to take in this fun evening.

The Shannon Falls Retirement Residence on Third Avenue is holding a public open house on Saturday, Oct. 20, from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. and everyone is invited.

Tonight (Oct. 4) the 14th annual general meeting of the Squamish River Watershed Society will take place at the Brackendale Art Gallery from 6:30 to 9 p.m.

The free Chronic Pain Self-Management Program being offered at the Seniors Centre still has room for more participants who have any kind of ongoing pain. This evening (Oct. 4) the annual Wine and Cheese Grant Presentation by the Squamish Community Foundation will be held at the Adventure Centre at 7 p.m. This event is a chance to meet the directions and learn more about the foundation.

Programs that have started at the Seniors Centre this month include: Pilates every Monday from 2:45 to 3:45 p.m., Zumba Gold on Wednesdays from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m., men on the move on Wednesday from noon to 1 p.m. and - back by popular demand - line dancing on Fridays from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m.

Nancy from the Squamish Public Library will have books on display at the Shannon Falls Retirement Residence on Third Avenue on Thursday (Oct. 11) at 2:30 p.m.
