An event not to be missed each year is the annual Hilltop House Harvest Tea that also includes a sale of homemade baked goods and raffle. It will be held at Hilltop House (HTH) in the dining room on Saturday (Oct. 13) from 1:30 to 3 p.m. Delicious pie and coffee or tea are just $4 each. Donations of goodies for the bake table would be much appreciated and can be dropped off on Saturday morning. The sponsors of this gathering are members of the Hilltop House Support Society and many other volunteers.
The next speaker series sponsored by the Squamish Public Library and Quest University will be held at the Squamish Library tonight (Thursday, Oct. 11) at 6:30 p.m. The guest speaker will be Dr. Rob Knop and his topic will be The Higgs Boson: Background and the News from CERN. All are welcome.
A public open house will be held at the Shannon Falls Retirement Residence on Third Avenue on Saturday (Oct. 20) at 1 p.m. and an invitation is extended to the community.
Hilltop House will celebrate birthdays this month and those to be honoured include: Clarice Callaway, Rosie Peters, Sam MacPherson, Albert Bodie, Grace Clarke, Alice Gosseling, Kathy Smith and Anna Liefertz. The cutting of the cake takes place at 2 p.m. on Wednesday (Oct. 17).
The Howe Sound Drama Club was very active in our town from 1965 to 2000 and I have fond and happy memories of performing in plays and musicals, as do a whole lot of others.
