At The Chief's request, BC Assessment compiled two lists of properties in Squamish. The first outlines the most valued properties in town overall, among all types of properties such as commercial, industrial and residential.

The second list outlines the most expensive residential properties.

This year, two lots in the Waterfront landing area have catapulted onto the list, with one of them taking the highest valuation. That area is the site of a brand-new neighbourhood that will dramatically boost the population of the area between the highway and downtown.

Several new residential developments have claimed places on the list for the first time. These are the first Amaji building and the Vantage building, both in downtown.

The first phase of the Garibaldi Springs development, located at 2100 Newport Ridge Drive, did not make the Top 10, but was just shy of getting itself on the list, with a value of $21.08 million

Two properties that have been fixtures on the list for some time have dropped off.

The Woodfibre property is no longer on this list, as it is valued at $10.39 million. However, deputy assessor Bryan Murao said this may be because the property has been subdivided into multiple parcels.

The Walmart property, which was previously a mainstay, is also now gone from the list, with a value of $17.04 million
