Casca Footwear, a Vancouver-based premium all-day footwear maker, announced Tuesday that it has been acquired by Unity Brands, a company co-owned by Canadian fashion designer and entrepreneur Joe Mimran, the founder or co-founder of brands including Club Monaco and Joe Fresh.

Braden Parker and Kevin Reid launched Casca out of a Kitsilano basement suite in 2017 with a vision to craft footwear that “flawlessly fused functionality, comfort, and style” with an ergonomic design and high-quality materials.

The price of the acquisition was not disclosed.

“I am incredibly proud of what we have built over the last seven years, and I’m looking forward to seeing Casca achieve new levels of growth with Unity Brands,” Braden Parker, co-founder and CEO of Casca Footwear, said in a press release.

“The team at Unity Brands recognizes Casca’s mission to support the customer experience from the ground up. Their commitment to nurturing quality-driven brands that deeply resonate with consumers aligns with the ethos on which Casca was founded.”

This acquisition is Unity Brand’s newest addition to their portfolio. In July, the company announced its acquisition of Kit and Ace Technical Apparel Inc., a clothing retailer originally founded by Summer and J.J. Wilson – the wife and son of Lululemon Athletica Inc. founder Chip Wilson.

“We are thrilled to announce the addition of Casca Footwear to our portfolio,” said David Lui, CEO at Unity Brands.

“With a focus on technology and contemporary designs, Casca aligns perfectly with our commitment to providing innovative and stylish products for our guests. We are eager to expand and grow this exceptional brand.”

Unity Brands aims to expand Casca into new markets and grow its product offering, according to the company.
