BMX rider dies performing stunt on Vancouver seawall

A man died over the weekend after attempting a stunt on a BMX bike on the seawall near the Vancouver Harbour Flight Centre.

A man died over the weekend after attempting a stunt on a BMX bike on the seawall near the Vancouver Harbour Flight Centre.

Vancouver Fire and Rescue reports that the victim, a man in his 30s, fell off his bike and hit his head on a concrete embankment, he then fell into the water.

Marty Allard, general manager of passenger facilities at Vancouver Harbour Flight Centre, told Vancouver Is Awesome in an email that the accident took place Sunday evening. He said the accident occurred after, “an individual appeared to be attempting a bike stunt jumped off the third level of the seawall adjacent to the Vancouver Harbour Flight Centre into the water.”

The Vancouver Harbour Flight Centre is cooperating with police.

BC Coroners Service told V.I.A. in an email that it is conducting a fact-finding investigation that, “will look to determine how, where, when and by what means he came to his death.”

BC Coroners Service said that it has no other information to release at this time.
