Squamish swimmer makes Top 10

Squamish swimmer Katie Coombs put on Top 10 performances in almost all of her events at the Canadian Masters Swimming Championships in Montreal.

Coombs was the sole member of the Squamish Titans to attend the event, which took place from May 24 to 26.

She was in the Top 10 for seven of the eight events she participated in.

They are 100 IM (10th) 50 free (7th) 200 back (6th) 100 Free (9th) 200 free (8th) 50 back (4th) 100 back (5th) 25 free (27th).

“This meet was very challenging, mentally and physically,” wrote Coombs in an email. “Training with a back injury has been hard, but thanks to my amazing coaches, who pushed me and believed in me, I got to Montreal.”

Coombs added she was grateful to Squamish residents for lending her their support.

“Let me swim with grace for I am a swimmer and the water is my sky,” she wrote.
