Mix of sun and clouds (and maybe a sprinkle) to open March in Vancouver

Temperatures will be slightly warmer in southern and eastern neighbourhoods.

Vancouver is in for a mix of sun and clouds this weekend as residents turn the calendar to March.

V.I.A.’s Weatherhood is predicting sunny breaks among a blanket of clouds across the city Saturday, March 1, and Sunday with the mercury anticipating to reach double-digit temperatures.

Skies may be particularly brighter to the southwest and northeast — as high as 15 C in areas like DunbarKerrisdale, Trout LakeStrathcona and Hastings-Sunrise.

As well, winds are expected gust just a bit more briskly in the same areas to nearly 10 km/h, including Langara, South Vancouver and Killarney

If the rain is to fall, it's only at a 33 per cent chance, Weatherhood said.

This includes communities out west like Jericho and UBC.

On Thursday, Strathcona was the warmest community at 17 C while Langara was the coldest at under 7 C and the windiest at nearly 10 km/h.
