Sports gambling will evolve in BC Aug. 27 as the BCLC will introduce single-event betting options.

The BC Lottery Corporation (BCLC) is introducing single-event sports betting on the PlayNow.com website.

As of Aug. 27, 2021, people can bet on a single sporting event at a time; the BCLC uses the example of Sunday's (Aug. 29) CFL game between the BC Lions and Ottawa Redblacks in a press release on the new offering. Football fans will also have the option to lay money on the Seattle Seahawks' Sept. 12 home opener.

It's not just team sports. Racing and fights are also options. People can even bet against Jake Paul when he fights Tyron Woodley (technically you could bet on him as well, but who'd want to do that?).

"This is a landmark moment for BCLC and our players,” says Lynda Cavanaugh, BCLC’s interim president and CEO, in the release. “We’re excited to enhance our offerings on PlayNow.com."

Single-event betting is being considered for casinos in B.C. as well, and other "land-based channels."

For anyone concerned about responsible gambling, PlayNow.com has a number of features as well, to prioritize the health of the gamblers, states the corporation.
