Squamish's Melissa DeWolf will soon be opening up her home to strangers, all in the name of music — and community.

DeWolf signed up to host a Living Room Live house concert, which involves hosts in towns across Canada opening their homes to classical musicians for an intimate show.

This second season for the series will feature Jonathan Stuchbery, a Montreal-based musician who specializes in classical guitar music.

He and his baroque guitar will be at DeWolf's home on Monday, January 13. The show starts at 7:30 p.m.

"It is such a neat idea. I have enjoyed going to theatres to watch musicians play, but the idea of someone coming to my house — and creating a space for people to gather — seemed like a really neat thing to do," said DeWolf, who also owns The Hive Home and Gifts on Cleveland Avenue, downtown. "I am actually really excited about it."

She said she also just acquired the family square grand piano, so the January concert seemed fitting.

Each host has to commit to open their home and sell a certain number of tickets to ensure the artist's cost are covered.

With the series, artists gain access to venues and exposure to diverse audiences.

The idea is that the intimate settings allow attendees to meet and talk with the artists and listen to stories about the music during the show.

This winter tour will include stops at 12 homes throughout BC's South Coast, including Squamish.

In terms of the Sea to Sky Corridor, a Pemberton home will also play host to Stuchbery on Jan. 12.

DeWolf is also scheduled to host during the spring series, on Sunday, June 7. That tour will feature duo526, a violin and piano pair.
