The Squamish Men’s Shed is looking for more new non-profit projects to work on.

This group is an organization of senior men who volunteer their handiwork to create things that benefit the community.

“We are keeping busy helping others and have more exciting projects on the horizon,” said Mike Miller of the society in a news release.

“The Squamish Men’s Shed Society enjoys serving the community, we are proud of our members and our work.”

Some examples of their work include:

• Constructed a bat condo for the Squamish River Watershed Society that is installed in the estuary to provide a home for up to 3000 bats

• Created the 3 foot high “CRAVE” marquee sign for the Squamish Helping Hands fundraising dinner

• Worked with the Hilltop House seniors assisted living facility to create Christmas tree ornaments

• Hosted kid’s painting table at WYND Festival Movie Night

• Repaired a street bench at Third and Pemberton

• Built a large toy box for the Cedars’ / Fire Department Christmas Toy Drive for kids

• Constructed the “Before-I-Die” (bucket list) 3-sided black board for the Squamish Hospice Society

• Construction of community Take & Leave Library Book box for Sea to Sky Services building

• Built and installed three gates for the CAN Grow Garibaldi Gardens

If your non-profit group has an idea for a project you would like the Squamish Men’s Shed to consider, please contact Mike at [email protected]
