It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Bill Cates, who died in his sleep at Hilltop House on March 1, 2023.
Bill was predeceased by his brother Don and His sister Francis and is survived by his wife Wilma, sons Ken and Laurie and daughter Delores.
Bill was born in Springhill, Nova Scotia, and headed West to B.C. at the age of 16.
Bill worked at a ranch in Pavilion for a short while, then got a job at the PGE in Squamish.
Bill became a carman and worked on the railway for 45 years without any lost time due to injury, an accomplishment he was proud of.
We would like to thank the staff at Hilltop House for taking such good care of Bill during his stay there. As per Bill's wishes, no funeral services will be held. His ashes will be placed close to his mother's in Nova Scotia.
