In Memory of Gordon Fredrick Mulligan Nov. 4th, 1947 to Nov. 12th, 2023
With profound sorrow, we announce the passing of Gordon in November, succumbing to an illness related to cancer. Known to many as Gord, Gordie, or Gordo, one thing remains certain: he will forever be remembered by those fortunate enough to have known and loved him.
Gordie, hailing from Woodfibre, B.C., attended Howe Sound Secondary, where he excelled both academically and in sports.
Graduating early, Gord achieved numerous milestones, obtaining a bachelor of science degree and a doctorate degree in philosophy and contributing to over 180 research publications with 3000-plus research citations. Gord ended his tenure as professor emeritus at the University of Arizona.
His impact continued to grow as he shared his knowledge worldwide, earning recognition as a distinguished scholar in his fields.
Perhaps Gord expressed it most eloquently in a piece he wrote upon his retirement.
"You left us too soon, Gord. You are deeply missed by the many who had the privilege of knowing you and being influenced by you."
