The Sea to Sky Gondola extends its hours on Friday, Saturday and Sunday until 8 p.m. during the summer.

Just as the heat begins to kick in, the Sea to Sky Gondola has announced its slate of summer activities.

According to a news release, the gondola is bringing back Mountain Music to the lodge deck.

Local Squamish band, Out East, kicks off the tunes this Friday, June 9. Other groups like The Hairfarmers, The Whiskeydicks and Ruckus Deluxe are scheduled to play throughout the summer, until Sept. 8.

If morning fitness is more of your scene, then you may be interested in the following two activities.

Starting June 19, yoga will be offered every weekday morning from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. on the deck of the lodge. There will be a variety of classes available, each costing $20 per session. If rain is in the forecast, a cancellation notice will be posted at 7 p.m. the night before.

Additionally, the gondola will soon host the “Rise and Climb Challenge,” which invites hikers to take on the Sea to Summit Trail, with the possibility of prizes.

“Every Saturday morning starting June 24, hikers can crush their fitness goals, get social, and enjoy nature while climbing Sea to Sky Gondola’s Sea to Summit Trail,” read the release.

“Once at the top, participants can take a much-needed break by enjoying the stunning morning views while drinking a complimentary cup of coffee. Everyone who arrives before noon will be entered into a draw to win some amazing prizes.”

The release also described an expanded menu at the gondola this summer, with tacos and pizza added to its café and barbecue stations, on top of past menu staples. Desserts and candy will also be readily available at Summit Sweets, another new offering this summer.

“This new addition at Sea to Sky Gondola will literally make you feel like a kid in a candy shop. With ice cream, cotton candy, popcorn, slushies, and of course, candy galore, it offers the ultimate treat for all visitors this summer,” the release went on.

From now until Labour Day, the gondola is extending its hours on Friday, Saturday and Sunday until 8 p.m., with the last download at 9 p.m.

On Saturday and Sunday, visitors can save 40% on day tickets if purchased online, and after 4 p.m. Limited discounted tickets are available.
