Police are seeking a suspect in an attempted pre-Christmas break-and-enter at a business in the Squamish Business Park.
On Dec. 22, someone attempted to break into a business in the 1100 block of Enterprise Way sometime between 8 and 9:40 a.m., RCMP Staff Sgt. Brian Cumming said in a statement.
A man was seen attempting to pry open a door to the business, but when interrupted by the owner, the man fled. The suspect is described as having brown hair, possibly with some stubble. At the time, the man was wearing a baseball hat with lettering on the front, possibly NYC, a black-and-white checkered shirt, black pants and a black jacket with a white patch on the left.
The suspect had taken various items from the owner's vehicle, which was parked nearby. The items had been stashed outside along with some other items, which have been seized for examination. The latter items included an iPad that had was reported to have been stolen on Dec. 21 from a shopping cart at Wal-Mart.
Goose injured
Someone found an injured goose on Dec. 23 at around 6:15 p.m. on Bailey Street near Cleveland Avenue. The bird had been shot with an arrow and later died. The arrow was seized as part of the investigation into the matter.
Pub targeted
On Dec. 25 at around 1:30 a.m., police received a report of a theft from the Cliffside Pub. The suspect reached into the till and stole money, then went outside. The suspect was arrested and is under investigation for theft.
Bike recovered
On Thursday (Dec. 26), police received a report of a bike having been found in an underground area in the 2300 block of Mamquam Road. An investigator was able to associate it with a theft that occurred on Dec. 14 in the 40300 block of Diamond Head Road. No suspect has been identified, but the owner was able recover his stolen bike.
Electronics taken
On Friday (Dec. 27), police received a report that the surveillance camera and DVR system were stolen from a storage facility in the 37700 block of Second Avenue. The theft is believed to be associated with an earlier break-in and theft from a storage locker in the same facility in which electronics and other items had been stored. Both matters are under investigation.
Man faces charges
On Friday (Dec. 27), a man whose vehicle was stopped at a police roadblock at Highway 99 and Commercial Way under suspicion of impaired driving was also found in possession of a bike that had its serial number ground off as well as "significant amounts" of marijuana and crystal meth, Cumming said. The man faces charges of drug- and property-related offences.
Driver prohibited
On Monday (Dec. 30) at 6:20 a.m., a northbound vehicle lost control and drove into a cliff alongside Highway 99 just north of Lions Bay. The driver was alone and was not injured, but the vehicle was a write-off, Cumming said. The man showed symptoms of impairment and was issued a 90-day roadside driver's licence prohibition.
Bike stolen
On Dec. 22, a red and white Infinity mountain bike was reported stolen from in front of the Squamish Public Library on Second Avenue. The lock had been cut to gain access.
Gifts stolen
On Dec. 23, a home in the 41000 block of Willow Crescent was reportedly entered through an insecure window and several Christmas gifts were stolen.
