Firefighters smother a small oil fire at downtown Squamish laundromat

Oily rags blamed for the blaze, which occurred Thursday morning.

Firefighters have smothered a small oil fire that erupted at The Spot laundromat downtown.

On June 16, at around 10:15 a.m., first responders attended the scene as smoke billowed from the storefront.

Firefighters doused a bundle of oily rags outside the building.

The owner, Ashleigh Leier, said that oily rags were the cause.

At the time, there appeared to be no injuries to anyone in the building.

Leier said she will alert folks on The Spot's social media when the laundromat is reopened.
