The Sea to Sky School District hit a record this year for French immersion enrolment, according Canadian Parents for French BC & Yukon.
As of the 2017 to 2018 school year, 1,031 students in the school district were registered in the program, or 20.6 per cent of the entire student body.
It’s come a long way.
Back in 2007 to 2008 school year, 310 students were enrolled for the course in the Sea to Sky.
Canadian Parents for French BC & Yukon say it’s part of a provincewide trend of increasing French immersion enrolment.
Over a period of about 10 years, French immersion student numbers have increased to 53,483 up from 41,000, the organization said.
