WYF.

HMU.

FOMO.

These are just three of the common text abbreviations North Shore News editor Andy Prest wrote about in his latest column.

It's among our top three favourite articles shared on Syrup this week. Why? Because it's hilarious. He sat down with his 14-year-old son and went through the list, sent out by unscramblerer.com.

Sliding into our second spot is a story about Metro Vancouver's newest lottery winner.

Wenwen Lu won the $500,000 Extra prize after purchasing the winning ticket at Chang Luck Smoke Shop, inside Burnaby's Crystal Mall.

"Mom, is it true?" her son asked after she told him the news.

Rounding out the list is a business story out of Squamish.

Amelie Auger is bringing people together with Prana Yoga, a little coffee shop and yoga studio in the downtown core.

The local flight attendant is calling it a "lifelong dream," and says the community has been nothing but supportive.

What is Syrup?

Our parent company, Lodestar Media, launched a new social newsfeed for Canadians more than a month ago.

Syrup helps fill the gap left by Meta's ban on Canadian news.

It's a space Canadian journalists can share their stories, free of ads and bots. Everyday folks can post too, engage with journalists in the comments and upvote their favourite stories.

We're just getting started.

(We even have a sweet contest going on right now, to get folks communicating and connecting.)
