Assault
A man was arrested for assault of his common law partner, after police responded to a report of a man and woman screaming inside a vehicle in an alley in the 37800 block Cleveland Avenue on Friday Sept. 11, Squamish RCMP said. The woman was heard saying, “I’m bleeding, stop hitting me,” according to police. When police arrived, the woman said her common law partner had punched her in the head and fled. The man was located and arrested and the woman was taken to hospital for treatment of injuries to her head and arm, police said.
Business owner assaulted
RCMP are investigating a reported assault that occurred at the boat rental on Loggers Lane on Saturday, Sept. 12. A disgruntled customer had a disagreement with the business owner and allegedly assaulted the owner, according to Squamish RCMP.
Jewelry stolen
Police report that cash and jewelry were stolen including: a men’s black Diesel watch, a men’s black Guess watch, a white-gold engagement ring with a single diamond and a men’s gold chain with pendant the size of a Loonie. The theft occurred during a break and enter at a home in the 1500 block Depot Road on Monday, Sept. 7. The front door was pried open and the house was ransacked during the robbery, according to police. Forensic examination results are pending.
Home B&E
An older model Kona Cinder Cone mountain bike with lime green Marzocchi forks, cash and Canadian Tire money were stolen from a home in the 40100 block Kalodo on Sept. 7, police said. Entry was gained through a ground floor window, according to RCMP. The results of a forensic examination are pending.
Lost firearm
Squamish RCMP received a report from a man who left his Remington 870, pump-action, 12-gauge shotgun behind when he was doing some shooting roughly 10 kilometres up the Mamquam Forest Service Road on Sept. 5. When the man went back for the rifle, it was gone.
Stolen truck recovered
A truck that was reported stolen from the 38100 block of Cleveland Avenue on Aug. 13 was recovered unoccupied and abandoned. The vehicle was located in the area of Lillooet Road and Purcell Way in North Vancouver on Sept. 9, police report.
Cyclist crash with truck
A cyclist was injured in a crash on Highway 99 in Lions Bay on Thursday, Sept. 10, police said. The cyclist had only minor injuries and reported that he had been riding northbound in a group when he swerved to avoid a rock and got clipped by a dump truck, falling almost into the path of the truck’s rear tires.
The rear trailer tire grazed his helmet, and his head hit the ground, breaking the back of the helmet, Squamish RCMP said. The man was seen by paramedics and cleared.
Outstanding warrant
A motorist stopped for speeding on Highway 99 was arrested and taken to a Squamish jail cell to be held for court and a six-day remand to attend court in Saskatoon on Sunday, Sept .13, police said
