Shot fired near worker
A forest engineer was almost hit by a bullet while working in the area of Swift Creek Forest Service Road on Wednesday, Nov. 11, RCMP said. Police received a report of a single gunshot fired in the direction of the worker. It is believed people were target shooting in the area and likely did not know the engineer was in the line of fire, RCMP said. There were no injuries.
Motorcycle crash
A motorcycle rider suffered minor injuries and was taken to hospital Monday, Nov. 9 after losing control of his bike while accelerating on the 41100 block of Government Road, according to Squamish RCMP. Driver inexperience is believed to be the cause of the collision.
Gas inhalation
A man was taken to hospital after a friend found him unconscious in his trailer on Saturday, Nov. 14 in the 1900 block of Centennial Way, police said.
It appeared the man fell asleep while cooking on a gas stove, Squamish RCMP said. The pilot light had blown out and the trailer filled with propane. The man was conscious and breathing when police arrived and did not appear to be in distress, police reported.
While the man was taken to hospital by ambulance for examination, Squamish Fire Rescue members ventilated the trailer to ensure it was safe to re-enter, police said.
Arrests downtown
In two separate and unrelated incidents, two men were arrested downtown on outstanding warrants on Thursday, Nov. 12, for failing to comply with conditions of their release, Squamish RCMP said. Both men were held in custody and subse-quently taken to court, police said.
Bin up in smoke
A fire was started in a charity clothing bin in the 1300 block of Cleveland Avenue on Saturday, Nov.14, police said. Police received a report of a loud explosion and discovered a firework had been inserted into the bin, causing the clothes to smolder and ignite. Squamish firefighters extinguished the fire. No suspects were located.
SUV collides with sign
Police received a report of a collision involving a white SUV on Highway 99 in the area of Crystal Falls Road on Thursday, Nov. 12, but officers couldn’t find the vehicle when they arrived. A road sign was damaged at the location of the reported crash, police said.
