Drunk driver stopped
A driver received a roadside driving prohibition and the vehicle was impounded after RCMP received a report of an erratically driven vehicle northbound on Highway 99 near Furry Creek on Thursday, Nov. 19.
The vehicle struck a traffic cone in the area, police said. Officers found and stopped the vehicle on the highway near Valley Drive.
The driver displayed symptoms of impairment and failed a roadside breath test, police reported.
Lego theft
On Monday Nov. 16, West Vancouver Police stopped an individual for speeding and discovered $2,285 worth of new Lego stolen from the Squamish Wal-Mart, Squamish RCMP said.
The vehicle’s occupant faces a charge of theft, police said.
Crash with pole
At 6:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 17, a northbound vehicle on Highway 99 lost control, spun around and hit a post just north of Lions Bay Road, police said. The driver was alone and was not injured, but the vehicle was badly damaged and towed away.
The driver was given a speeding ticket, according to Squamish RCMP.
Roadblock crash
While police were conducting a roadblock in the northbound lanes of Highway 99 near Finch Drive on Wednesday, Nov.18, a vehicle crashed into others that were stopped, police said. There were no injuries, but the driver was given a speeding ticket, according to Squamish RCMP.
Unlocked vehicle break-in
A vehicle that was parked in the 1400 block of Winnipeg Street was broken into and personal belongings and identification were stolen on Saturday, Nov. 21, Squamish RCMP said. Police believe the vehicle was unlocked. There were no witnesses.
Possible gift card fraud
Three men presented numerous gift cards at a store in the 40100 block of Glenalder Place on Sunday Nov. 22, police said. Some of the gift cards did have a cash balance on them, and a sale of $722 was made, but other cards were blank.
An investigation is underway to determine if a fraud was committed.
