Domestic dispute arrests
Two men were arrested for assault after police responded to two separate and unrelated reports of domestic disputes on the evening of Thursday, Oct. 22, one in Valleycliffe and one in Garibaldi Highlands.
Alcohol factor in crash
A vehicle was impounded on Monday, Oct. 19, after southbound vehicle turning off Highway 99 onto Cleveland Avenue lost control and hit the curb, police said. There were no injuries but the vehicle was badly damaged.
Alcohol was a factor in the crash so the vehicle was impounded, Squamish RCMP said.
Man held in jail
A man was arrested and held in custody on Tuesday, Oct. 20 after police stopped a suspect vehicle at Highway 99 and Commercial Way, Squamish RCMP said. The driver seemed intoxicated but refused to give a breath sample, according to police.
A charge of refusal to provide a breath sample is being recommended. The driver was also the subject of an outstanding warrant from Chilliwack, police said. He was arrested and held until his court date.
Hit and run
A man was arrested and held in custody until his court appearance after police responded to a reported hit and run crash at the McDonald’s drive-thru on Saturday, Oct. 24.
RCMP reported that they later found the driver and his vehicle at the Squamish Hotel parking lot.
The driver seemed impaired, failed roadside breath tests and received a 90-day driving prohibition, and his vehicle was impounded for 30 days. He also had an outstanding warrant from Abbotsford, so he was arrested and held.
B&E interrupted
Police are investigating an attempted break and enter at a home on Kelvin Grove Way in Lions Bay on Oct. 20, RCMP said. The homeowner found a suspicious vehicle abandoned in the driveway, which turned out to have stolen licence plates.
The homeowner later noticed pry marks from an attempted break-in on the doors and windows of the house, Squamish RCMP said.
Vehicles stolen
A 2015 Nissan Rogue and a 2013 BMW 328i, both containing the wallets of the owners, were stolen from a garage in the 41500 block on Government Road on Saturday, Oct. 24. Credit cards belonging to one of the owners were later used in Burnaby, RCMP said.
The investigation continues.
