Police were able to recover a dog that was stolen from the Squamish pound, along with a stolen ATV, on Nov. 1.

The Squamish RCMP first received information about the location of a stolen ATV, which had been taken the previous day, according to a police news release.

The Mounties say the officers headed to Highway 99 and Centennial Way and found the ATV, and arrested two individuals for possession of the stolen property. The police will be recommending charges against the two people to Crown counsel.

During the arrest, officers were able to identify a stolen dog, "Max," who was taken from the Squamish pound on Oct. 9 in a break and enter.

In recovering the dog, one police officer was bitten and had to go to the hospital.

After being assessed by medical staff, the police officer was able to return to regular duties and will fully recover, the release states.

Another dog was also apprehended due to its aggressive nature and both dogs have been transported to an undisclosed location.

The police are in the process of returning the stolen ATV to its owner.
