Search for missing Squamish teen to continue Saturday

About 800 locals turned up on Friday to help with the search; no further community event is currently planned.

***Please note, tragically, searchers found Richie Stelmack deceased on Sept. 25.

Squamish SAR will be conducting more technical searches to find 15-year-old Richie Stelmack on Saturday, Sept. 25, in a joint effort with Squamish Fire Rescue and the RCMP.

On Friday, 800 volunteers turned up to help first responders with the search, according to a SAR post

"Squamish SAR would like to thank the community for the outpouring of support in the search for Richie today. Community members led by SAR volunteers covered a remarkable amount of terrain while they searched the surrounding neighbourhoods," reads the post.

Another community search is not currently planned, but locals can continue to help by diligently checking their properties —  including outbuildings, boats, vehicles and bushes — for signs of Stelmack, who went missing from his home in the Garibaldi Highlands on Sept. 21.

He has brown hair and eyes. He's 5 foot, 5 inches tall and weighs about 100 pounds.

Stelmack was last seen wearing brown plaid pyjama pants and a long sleeve red shirt with "RVCA" on the front.

Squamish SAR and the Squamish RCMP will update the community as the search continues.

If you see Stelmack or have any relevant information, call 911.
