Squamish's Norman Rudy's is shutting.

A fixture at the Executive Suites is closing down.

On Feb. 17, a news release from the Executive Table Group and their operating partners, Gibbons Whistler, announced that Norman Rudy’s will be shutting its doors on Feb. 23.

The Gibbons Group received lease termination for Norman Rudy’s, located at 20900 Tantalus Road, on Feb. 16, the release states.

“We are grateful to the Squamish community for their support over the past six years,” said Dan Jeffries, president of Gibbons Whistler, in the release. “We hope to see you out for a farewell drink before we close on Feb. 23.”

In its place, the Executive Inn & Suites will be opening a new restaurant and lounge.

“Executive Table Group and Executive Hotels are excited to announce the arrival of Freebird Table & Oyster Bar, a new restaurant offering a unique dining experience, which will be opening this spring in Squamish,” said Claire Wright, partner with the Executive Table Group in the release.

“Located at the Executive Suites Hotel & Resort in Garibaldi Highlands, Freebird Table & Oyster Bar aims to provide its customers with an exceptional culinary experience in a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere.  Freebird plans to showcase their signature flavours of the South in the Mountains of B.C.  Freebird’s concept showcases a ‘West Coast heart with a cast iron soul.’”
